 REVERSE LIP DESIGNS
The reverse lip design is used when both the contaminants and the fluids to be
sealed are coming from the same side. This design can provide an effective seal
when the outside of the assembly sees water or mud slurry. In this case, fluid
from outside the assembly leaking in is the greater design concern. The reverse
lip under the garter spring ensures maximum sealing to the outside of the unit
while allowing slight oil migration between the seal lips for needed lubrication.
