HOW TO INDICATE A HELIX LIP DESIGN
If your design includes a helix lip, the appropriate suffix must be added to the part
number. Add the suffix “CW” if the shaft rotates in a clockwise direction when
viewed from the air side of the seal; “CCW” if the shaft rotates in a counterclockwise
direction when viewed from the air side of the seal. Add the suffix “BD” for a shaft
rotating in both directions.
EXAMPLE:
The following metric part number includes a unidirectional helix lip for a shaft
rotating in a counterclockwise direction:
50X72-8TC-RV/CCW
INTERNALLY LUBRICATED COMPOUNDS
For special applications where shaft rotation may start without lubrication
present at the seal lip, internal lubricants can be added to the elastomer to
reduce wear. This can be indicated in the part number by the suffix /moly.
